The Government Digital Service is a new team within Cabinet Office tasked with transforming government digital services. Established in response to Martha Lane Fox’s report, ‘Directgov 2010 and beyond: revolution not evolution’ GDS' core purpose is to ensure the Government offers world-class digital products that meet people’s needs.

The Ordnance Survey is the national mapping agency of Great Britain. Government, business and individuals rely on the Ordnance Survey to provide accurate and up-to-date geographic data. Founded in 1791 Ordnance Survey remains a part of the UK Government, but is also now a dynamic, self-financing £120-million-a-year civilian organisation.

Powys County Council is a Welsh Unitary Authority responsible for all local government services in the county, including education, social care services, roads and bridges, leisure services, tourism and planning. The Council employs around 8,000 staff working in many locations across the county and has a huge impact on the local economy, both by being its largest employer and by spending more than half of its £300 million turnover within the county's boundaries.

Bristol City Council serves a population of over 428,000 and is the eighth largest city in the UK. The council comprises 70 councillors representing 35 wards of the city. Elections take place for a third of the council three out of every four years. Bristol is the largest centre of culture, employment and education in the South-West region.

The Yorkshire & Humber Grid for Learning (YHGfL) is a regional centre for excellence and innovation in eLearning. YHGfL is funded by a consortium of 11 local authorities in the region representing 221 secondary schools, 43 special schools, 44 nurseries and 1,380 primary schools and their partners in learning.

Carmarthenshire County Council is one of the largest and most diverse employers in South West Wales, employing over 9000 employees who provide services across a rural county to a population of 170,000. Staff were under pressure to deploy a centralised, bi-lingual e-mail solution to simplify the provision and management of pupil's mailbox accounts.
