A UK construction group's growth has been assisted by outsourcing its IT systems to one of Europe's fastest growing Open Source services groups. Killby & Gayford (K&G) announced today that its partnership with Sirius Corporation plc is part of a restructuring programme to lower costs and increase operational flexibility.
By centralising its core network and telephony services to a high-availability datacentre in the Docklands, K&G can now rapidly set-up site offices anywhere in the UK without the high costs of proprietary software licensing like CALs and provide a secure platform for an increasingly mobile workforce.
Whilst industry commentators describe the outlook for the construction sector as the most challenging for over a decade, K&G has recently released solid results for the year to 31 December 2008 with turnover up 14% from £76m to £86.9m in 2008.
Jeremy Vickers, Financial Director, K&G said: “During downturns, well-run companies focus their efforts on rapidly driving higher efficiencies through back office functions, freeing up excess working capital, and enhancing the performance of their systems and processes. That's what we're doing.
“Sirius Corporation's fully managed service has meant that problems are sorted out more quickly and help our staff to deliver an even better service to our customers.”
Mark Taylor, CEO, Sirius Corporation said: “We're delighted that K&G has decided to outsource the management and development of its IT and telephony systems to us. We hare the same aspirations for growth and customer service and we look forward to continuing our partnership".
