Ongoing Linux Support

For emergency support, go here!

Perhaps you've already grown to love Linux, and we love Linux for sure, but let's be honest, love isn't all you need!

For starters nobody wants to tell you how much support Costs or what their Service Level Agreements are. And then there's the rest of the:

Linux Support Problems

Maybe you recognize some of these:

  • No single 'throat to choke' - multiple support contracts with multiple vendors
  • Multiple Linux 'Distributions', some 'Enterprise', some 'Community'
  • Linux Engineers can have difficulty relating to, or even talking with, customers
  • Linux's 'ease of use' and its 'learning curve'
  • Lack of perfect, or even any, interoperability between platforms
  • If software is 'Free', why pay for anything, like Support or Consultancy or System Integration?

We have an entire article on Linux problems we've been asked about by customers.

Why hasn't the Problem been Solved?

Linux is not 'owned' by one company, it's not even a single product.

What we call Linux is a collection of hundreds or even thousands, of Open Source products that have been assembled, packaged and distributed in a way that resembles proprietary systems like Windows, Mac, or UNIX.

Every component, itself Open Source, was developed by programmers focused solely on their project.

This is how the remarkable strength of the Open Source development model became the source of Linux’s problems, and why those problems (to the Enterprise) have not been solved.

Linux distributions are either company-driven (like Ubuntu, Red Hat and SUSE) or community-driven (like Debian, CentOS and Gentoo). Either way they are staffed by developers, and developers are focused on writing code.

OSS communities are actually better at fixing code than companies, but can't be pinned down to the SLAs you need…

You need support for the enterprise workloads you run in real-world settings, not abstract issues of source code bug-fixing.

In short, there's a mismatch between the support you need, and the kind that's on offer.

Linux Support as it Should Be

Imagine enterprise-savvy, real-world support, whichever distribution of Linux you choose. Support focused on the realities of running Linux in your organization.

  • Cut through noise, non-essentials, and misinformation
  • Get Expert Guidance - how, why, what and when
  • Get the real answers you need, Solve the actual problems you have
  • Work with professionals who understand business, and talk like you talk
  • Get on with your business, and your mission

What's different now?

The real trick is understanding that Open Source is a service, not a product, and that Linux is here to be put to work, not just evangelized and developed as code.

SiriUS has designed, built, supported and managed Linux systems since for more than two decades, for Hospitals to Corporates, London Financial Institutions to Governments.

Sure we understand Linux at the source code level, but more importantly we understand how it is used by organizations in the real world, and in its various workloads.

We have built and run thousands of machines responsible for billions of dollars of business value. We know how to support Linux in the way you want and need it to be supported.
