European consortium releases Open Source quality assessment platform
The European Commission supported Software Quality Observatory for Open Source Software (SQO-OSS) project has announced the release of its software quality checking platform, Alitheia Core.
Developed by a consortium of European businesses, academics and open source software projects, the new application will analyse the product quality of open source software projects and assess the true potential of the development communities around them.

Open source company wins Becta accreditation
The government agency responsible for ICT in schools announced today that an open source company has become an accredited ICT services supplier to UK schools. Sirius Corporation plc is one of twelve companies to have successfully tendered for Becta's “Software for Educational Institutions Framework” agreement.
The framework agreement was conducted by OGCbuying.solutions, an executive agency of the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) in the Treasury.

UK's first government-backed national Open Source project launched
Schools Minister Jim Knight has officially launched the first nationwide Open Source project, the National Digital Resource Bank (NDRB). The new platform will benefit all UK schools that have invested in technologies for putting lessons, coursework and homework online but do not have the digital content to fill them.
